Fail

So I did not wake up. Oh well I did figure out that if I have pandora playing on my phone the alarm will not go off. Also my backup alarm (my wife) forgot to wake me up as well. Well there is always tomorrow.

The true test

So today I am going to find out if I have the willpower to take a two hour nap and still wake up to go to class. I am exhausted, but I know the only way I am going to be good enough for competitions is by training as much as can. So now to sleep and hopefully I will wake up feeling a little better.

Monday mornings

This is just a quick post to say that I work the mid shift which starts at 10:40 pm. The shift starts Sunday night, which means I come home from work around 8:15 and I have a little less then three hours of downtime before my class starts at 11:00. So i can either take a nap, which I have been doing, or I can just stay awake until class then come home and sleep. I have noticed that if I go to sleep after I shower it is extremely difficult to get myself to get out of bed. So I am going to resolve this issue by not going to sleep until after class. On that note I do not think that falling asleep will ever be a problem.

Reversals

Today's lesson was reversals, the first one was if you are being chocked from behind. obviously grab the arm with both hands and tuck the chin in. Then you take the first leg and drop to a knee in between your opponents legs and then drop the second leg parallel. As you come down you want to roll into yourself while holding on the you opponent. If performed correctly he/she should flip from behind you and you should end up in side control. The second reversal was a little more complex and I am way to tired to go over the whole thing but you basically go half butterfly or something then you pull them into you tuck your head to their chest and kick them literally over you, which should put you in side control again. Now onto the rolling. Pretty much uneventful I tried putting myself into the triangle a couple times but my opponent obviously saw that I just wanted him to go for it so i could pass. I was able to pull off the Lister Guard once, I felt like a bad ass at that point, then the buzzer went off. After the class I was told that I am starting to be more fluid like when it comes to my technique as opposed to the stiff muscling that I have been doing in my past four classes. So at least I am starting to pick up the basic of everything, posture and control. Now I just need to start remembering the techniques when I'm rolling. So time to get some grub take a shower and go to bed.

Starting all over again.

I am restarting this blog to help myself keep track of my BJJ progression. I am starting BJJ once again, I only took it for about a month before. I am currently going to Smiley's Combat Athletix, which is a superb school. My son will be going as well come December, but we have to wait until his contract is up with his Karate class. I will be going to class Mon-Sat, I know it sounds like allot but Mon, Wed, and Fri are Gi days while Tue and Thur are no Gi days. Saturday is open mat so the chances of me not going and not feeling bad are extremely high. As for now though I plan on going six days a week with Sunday for recovery. I bought some new Gi pants online this week and am waiting for them to come in. There is nothing wrong with my other pants, they are huge on me and I can hardly keep them on, so I purchased size A4. hopefully they will fit allot better and I wont have to constantly pick them up. Also I found that Walmart sells MMA Elite gear. This is awesome cause I can try the clothes on before I buy them. I have bought two pairs of shorts and one shirt, however I am going to buy at least 5 pair just so I don't have to constantly do laundry. So standby for constant updates and pics of "The Trails and Tribulations of a White Belt"
