My favorite submissions

I have pinpointed my favorite submissions. You would think that I would have known myself which ones where my favorite, but I had to hear someone else say that I always go for these two submissions no matter what. So the first one is the Ezekiel, one of the sneakiest chokes that BJJ has. All I do is get some kind of dominant position outside of the guard and then act like I am resting for a second, all the while I am positioning one hand behind the head and grabbing my sleeve. Then once I have the sleeve from the other hand I spin my free hand around the neck hopefully quick enough for them to not block it. Works more then any one would think, just have to be quick with the last part. I almost tapped out a blue belt with it just recently, his face was bright red, but since he was a blue belt he knew how to make me let go or get my fingers broken. Then he immediately got me in an arm bar, the guy is really good so I am not bummed about losing that submission. My next favorite submission is the Kimora. If I have side control I immediately go for it. I do not always have it but it makes my opponent defend that arm giving me enough space to either get full mount or position his arm for a really quick and easy armbar.

Bruised

So I feel like I have stamina again. I have noticed that I am able to go the whole time without needing a break as opposed to when I went back after a three week hiatus. I am rolling allot harder as well, and the ton of new bruises on my body are the evidence. I have been going to Brazilian jiu jitsu on and off for a year, honestly about four months with two years in between, and have never been as bruised as I am at this present moment. There is a bruise on my bicep that was already blue by the time I got home, but chicks dig it right? The warm ups are not killing me anymore which is good, I still am unable to do a shoulder roll properly. It is probably what will save my face from being smashed into the ground and I cant even do it. I am going to keep doing them until I have it down. I am going to try the whole Gatorade three process thing on Monday, if it works I will keep taking them, it is really expensive though. I think the pre workout was two something, then the Gatorade itself was almost a dollar, and then there is the post work workout drink that was two something as well. I have been drinking a gallon of water every night at work, so I wouldn't think that dehydration would be a problem. However this past Friday I went to class and my mouth instantly became dry, I had to constantly get a quick drink of water to keep my mouth moist, also my lips became chapped. Weird I guess, maybe my body was just used to all that water so it was asking for some more. On a good note I have lost fifteen pounds since I started, ten pounds since I started taking some kind of pill that is supposed to help with weight lose.

Stamina

So I missed alot of days and I definatley felt that had lost all stamina. Fortunately after two weeks I am able to roll the whole time again. I still get exhausted, but I can still keep going as opposed to barely being able to breath. I'm pretty sure that being sick for almost a month and still recovering had an influence on my stamina. And now to class, it went well, we went over the armbar from mount and a throw from a standing rear naked choke. I already knew the moves so it was really laid back for me, I just played through the motions so the other guy could get a feel for them though. Then came the rolling, I was very proud of myself, I rolled with a blue belt and was able to keep recovering guard. It's funny how I've been rolling for a while and it took one question to figure out that I need to move my hips more. Live and learn right.

Successful Kimora

This is a video from a month ago of me getting side control then successfully executing a kimora.

Forgot to post

Its been a while, I actually forgot about this blog. So to play catch up, I tested for my second stripe and got it. Then I became very sick, which I am still a little sick now, and missed a whole month of class. My wife and kids start tomorrow, this will be very interesting. I also plan on trying out Mauy Thai at the same gym. I will keep the post coming, I think that I am going to only do one or two post a week though that way I do not get burnt out.

Missed a day

So I have actually missed two days now and probably a third due to a cut I received on my leg cutting firewood. It is not hurting as bad as it did the night before but I have not bought a dressing for it like I should. I really hate missing a class but it is better then having an infection or be bleeding all over my gi pants or my opponent. We will see how things go tomorrow. Also I just bought the new medal of honor game so my leg might hurt for the next couple of days ;{)

The night class

I took the rest of the week off from work so I could have a five day weekend. I came home and went to sleep immediately with the intention of going to the night class. I found out that I would be able to go to the night class even if I had to work afterwards, which is awesome for the days that I am just to tired to go in the morning. Or I could switch it up and go to the no-gi night classes and the gi day classes so I do not burn myself out. Good day of rolling though, I got full mount and submitted everyone except the two blue belts that where there. I really wanted to roll with them but neither one wanted to roll with me. Hopefully I will get an opportunity to roll with them so I can see where I stand with one belt above me. The only other guys I have rolled with where either a white belt like myself or a black belt like Smiley. Obviously I get whooped by Smiley and either submit or stalemate against my fellow white belts.
